*ALWAYS LEAVE A CLEAN HOUSE – it makes coming back home all the more sweet :)

*DOWNLOAD MUST-HAVE APPS BEFORE LEAVING THE HOUSE.

*SIGN UP FOR GROUPONS/LIVING SOCIAL DEALS  a few weeks before you go to a particular place. This will help shape your trip and save you $$.

*DON’T FORGET IMPORTANT TRAVEL DOCUMENTS like your driver’s license, passport, travel insurance & health insurance cards.

*WEAR SOMETHING COMFORTABLE AND SIMPLE TO THE AIRPORT (not your Sunday’s best). Wear slip-on shoes, minimal to no jewelry and avoid belts, if possible; it will make going through security much less of a hassle.

*SIGHTSEEING: If the city has a subway/bus system (safety first), figure it out as a group and use it! It offers a great, inexpensive way to get around and to see many of the city’s tourist attractions. Some cities even offer a city pass, which, depending on what you want to see, the size of your travel group and the time you have, may be a budget-savvy idea or a tourist trap. With a city pass, you can see many attractions for free or almost free BUT do your homework – many attractions offer free entry anyways.

Make a list of what all you want to see, consider the time you have during your trip and prioritize. I am an advocate of “loose itineraries.” No one wants to be on a time schedule while vacationing but generalizing what you would like to accomplish during each day will ensure that you have time to do and see everything you want.

*KEEP AN OPEN MIND AND REMAIN FLEXIBLE. TRAVEL PLANS MAY NOT ALWAYS GO AS PLANNED.
